Gayle Lorraine Merritt, 73, of Stuart passed away September 1, 2015 at Lawnwood Regional Medical Center in Fort Pierce. Gayle was born November 2, 1941 in San Francisco, CA and moved to Stuart in 1999 coming from Sunrise, FL where she had resided for 12 years. Gayle earned her Bachelor’s degree from Cal Berkley. She had been an executive secretary for an electronics manufacturer in Nevada; this is where she met her husband, John. She was baptized Roman Catholic. Gayle had been a volunteer with Martin Volunteers and had spent much of her volunteer time at The Place in Stuart. Her main enjoyment was the beach and she was a supporter of save the lagoon. She loved the true beauty of the water and sand and wanted to preserve and help the environment. Survivors include her loving husband of 34 years, John T. Merritt; beloved children, Donny Edwards and Cynthia Pescheta; cherished grandchildren, Celia Kroll and Megan Mary Pescheta; and one great grandson, Wyatt Kroll. No services are planned at her request.
