

Born and raised in Huron, SD, he moved to Florida in 1953 and Stuart, FL in 1975. He was a US Navy Veteran and had a Master’s Degree in Engineering from Chrysler Institute of Engineering, Detroit, MI.
Harlan was a Florida Licensed Contractor and, over a span of 52 years, left his mark on Florida cemetery construction. He pioneered double depth lawn crypt construction, and built hundreds of mausoleum buildings throughout the entire state. Additionally, he served three, three year terms as a Director of the Florida State Cemetery Association.
He was a devoted father and a wonderful man. Harlan will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He was predeceased by his son, John and his wife, Jean.
He is survived by his sons, Harlan (Francesca), Denny (Jan), Curtis and Philip; daughter, Elaine Thompson (Mike); six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Harlan is also survived by his step-daughter, Susan Tate (Robert), stepson, Lee Tetreault; three step-grandchildren and two step-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on May 10, 2013 at 10:00am -12:00pm at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Stuart, Florida. Interment will follow at Fernhill Memorial Gardens in Stuart, FL.
