James was born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania on February 2, 1943 to Mary Silvus and Elvin LeRoy.
He was a loving husband, son, brother, uncle and friend. He helped anyone who needed it and took excellent care of his parents in their later years.
He was also the last surviving member of his family, predeceased by his brothers Elvin, Richard, Sherry, Aaron, and Kenneth Ashby; and his sisters Geraldine McFarland, Violet Henry, and Alverna Weaver.
