In January 1991, he married Karen Lehman and became a loving stepfather to Cathy Schreiber and Jeff Lehman and step grandfather to Tyler and Elizabeth Schreiber, Scott Dilworth and Rachel Stocker. He has three great grandchildren also.
Jim attended Tollentine High school and was a lifelong Catholic. His faith sustained him all his life.
Jim loved golf. He loved to play. He didn't care about winning money or trophies, he cared about the pure swing of the golf club, and the sound of it meeting the ball and sending it out onto the golf course. He was always trying to improve his game. He enjoyed practicing and was often seen playing by himself, working on his game. Jim had a great wealth of golf knowledge, and didn't mind sharing with others whether you wanted It or not.
He also loved movies,50s and 60s music and the New York Yankees., Passionately.
He could tell you the artist, title and year of release of hundreds of movies and pieces of music and was almost always right. As for The Yankees, he became discouraged by their play in the last few years and could be heard to disparage them, but he rarely missed a game on TV and secretly could be seen cheering them on.
Jim was the best friend I have ever seen. If he called you friend he supported you through thick and thin to the bitter end. If you became sick he was there for you, if you were embroiled in a controversy with others, he was on your side. He always had your back
Jim's memorial mass will be held on October 3 at 10:30 AM at Saint Christopher's Catholic Church in Hobe Sound. His remains will be interred at South Florida Military Cemetery, Lake Worth. "Come to me all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."
