John graduated from Central Catholic High School in Canton, Ohio, and continued his education at The Ohio State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Business and a Juris Doctor of Law. At Case Western Reserve University, he was awarded a Master’s Degree in Law, specializing in Estate Planning and Federal Income, and Estate and Gift Taxation.
John had a strong work ethic and held many unique jobs before starting his professional career. He worked on the railroad and at a seat company. While at his Alma Mater OSU, he worked jobs such as, a dishwasher, lunch card supervisor, stadium locker maintenance, daily open/closing the library and RA at the dorms.
His career included Senior Vice President and Senior Trust Officer at Harter Bank & Trust Company in Canton, Ohio, American National Bank in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and Seacoast Bank in Stuart, Florida. Some of his professional accomplishments include memberships in the Ohio Banking and Florida Bankers Association, and Martin County Florida Estate Planning Council. He also served on the Board of Directors for the Martin Memorial Hospital, YMCA, Boy Scouts of America, and Girl Scouts of the USA. His professional affiliations included memberships in the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Loyal Order of Moose, and Stuart Rotary Club.
John was very proud and passionate to be involved in recruiting for The Ohio State University Football Team. He was a season ticket holder for over 50 years and never missed a chance to take friends and family to see his beloved Buckeyes. We always enjoyed tailgating and the SKULL session at St. John’s Arena featuring TBDBITL - The Best Damn Band in The Land.
During his retirement years, John could be found on the golf course at Pipers Landing where he was passionate about his golf game. He enjoyed playing tennis, fishing, constructing wood furniture, traveling on cruises, and playing cards with the guys as well as his family. He enjoyed many trips with his family and friends to the casinos in Florida, Ohio, and Nevada to mention a few. In fact, many of us remember the year we held one of our C.R.A.P. (Casar Reunion Annual Picnic) in Las Vegas – LOTS OF FUN!
He was exceedingly proud of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and always did his best to support them. Many of us, including extended family have a stack of $2 bills we will never part with.
In the future, his family plans to gather at his Alma Mater, The Ohio State University to celebrate his remarkable life as husband, father, brother and friend that loved his family.
Let’s all participate in one of his favorites ~ O H ..
