
The family of Leeann Butler sadly announce her passing on Sunday, July 6, 2025. She passed away peacefully in her sleep without any pain.
Leeann was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on July 27, 1936, and ascended into heaven from Stuart, Florida on July 6, 2025. She grew up in Indianapolis, raised by her parents Eli and Alberta Heaton. She married her late husband and had two children before moving to Margate, Florida in 1959.
While in Margate, Leeann worked for Southern Bell and was instrumental in establishing a youth baseball league for the kids of Margate. She was recognized by the Margate Khoury League in 1964 for her efforts in bringing baseball to the city. The Fort Lauderdale News once featured her in an article about the Margate Khoury League, calling her “mom to over 250 kids.”
After her two children graduated from high school, she lived in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Brevard, North Carolina, Stuart, Florida, Okeechobee, Florida, Blairsville, Georgia, and Hiawassee, Georgia before returning to Stuart, Florida in 2011 where she lived until her passing. In each place, she made lots of friends who kept in touch with her until the end.
Leeann was preceded in death by her husband of over 54 years, Maurice Butler who passed away in 2010. She is survived by her two children and their significant others, Steve (Shelly) and Suzie (Dan); and two grandchildren Scott Butler, and Shawn Butler.
A small private service was held on July 9, and she is now next to her husband in heaven.
