María Elena Arias de Ramírez

María Elena passed away on 24th December 2021, after a brief illness, at the age of 84. Upon leaving her birth country of Colombia in 1963, she moved to Miami Florida, where she met and married F. Manuel Ramírez Veloz, a native of Cuba, on 22nd December 1965 at Gesù Church. The couple lived in Pahokee Florida for a few years, where all four of their children were born. In 1971, the family permanently settled in Stuart Florida. María Elena worked many years as a baker for the Martin County School Board, retiring in the early 1990s. Her husband Manuel died in 1996 at the age of 56. A few years later, she returned to Colombia, where she lived the remainder of her life.

Maria is survived by her children: Luis Manuel (Delia Garced) of Sarasota, FL, Pedro Antonio of Sarasota, FL, Rebecca (Harry Clare) of Stuttgart, Germany, (Her youngest daughter María del Rosario passed away in 1985 at the age of 14.), her grandchildren Kaylina, Pedro Jr, Alexandra, Juan Carlos, Alejandro Manuel, Bailey, Isabella, 9 great grandchildren, and several godchildren, including Justin McManus, son of Shields and Bertha.

During her decades in Stuart, she was an active member of St Joseph Catholic church, and she was known for her many acts of kindness throughout the community. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
