
Mary Alana “Sis” Farrell of Hobe Sound, Florida, died suddenly from complications of Pneumonia with her family by her side. Mary is survived by her husband Bob of 54 years, her four children Katherine, Kevin, Timothy and Robert and their spouses, eight grandchildren, sister Pat O’Keeffe and several nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by her parents Dr. George and Catherine Slattery and her brother Brian Slattery. Mary graduated from Manasquan High School and continued on to earn a BS in Physical Education from Brenau College in Gainesville Georgia. After graduation she taught PE at Lakewood and Wall High Schools in NJ. Mary loved the shore and was even one of the first female life guards on Manasquan Beach. “Sis” married her high school sweetheart Bob and with their children lived in Maryland for many years. Mary enjoyed a career in healthcare and became a co-owner of gourmet kitchen shop In Frederick Md. The family returned to the Jersey shore where Mary worked for many years at the ARC of Monmouth County. After moving to Hobe Sound Mary continued her calling to help others as an active parishioner of St. Christopher’s Church and the St. Vincent DePaul Thrift Shop. She was socially active with many of her friends at Lost Lakes. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Christopher’s Roman Catholic Church, Hobe Sound Florida on February 6, 2016 at 11 am.
