
Maryellen Morgan Castellano, 74, of Hobe Sound, passed away on Tuesday, July 12, at the Treasure Coast Hospice House in Stuart. Born in 1941 in Glen Ridge, New Jersey, Maryellen was the daughter of the late William H. Morgan Sr. and the late Helen Brennan Morgan. She grew up in Clifton, graduating from Clifton High School, and earning her secretarial certification from Katharine Gibbs School.
Following her marriage to her beloved husband, Louis Castellano, Maryellen lived for nearly 40 years in West Orange, New Jersey, where she was a Girl Scout leader and a Library Volunteer. She was a longtime member of St. Joseph RC Church in West Orange. Maryellen worked as an Executive Assistant for the State Health Benefits Program at Horizon BlueCross BlueShield of New Jersey, retiring in 2007. Maryellen and her husband, Louis, traveled extensively throughout the world, visiting Hong Kong and China, Italy, Spain, The Netherlands, France, England and Germany. After her retirement, Maryellen moved to Florida, where she was a member of St. Christopher RC Church in Hobe Sound. She was active with the Women’s Club of Lost Lake and the Circle of Friends Knitting Club.
Maryellen is survived by her beloved husband, Louis A. of Hobe Sound; her children Michele and Patrick McDermott of Stone Ridge, New York; Maureen Castellano and Andy Yu, of Cooper City, Florida; Michael and Carmela Castellano, of Summerville, South Carolina; and Mark Castellano and Karyn Regula, of Osprey, Florida; her grandchildren, Garrett Yu, now attending the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland; Dylan McDermott, of Stone Ridge, New York; and Brandon and Julia Yu, of Cooper City, Florida; her brother-in-law, Dominic Roberti, of Lake Forest, Illinois; her sister-in-law, Carolyn Morgan, of Davis, Oklahoma; and many nieces and nephews. Maryellen was predeceased by her brother, William H. Morgan, Jr.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, July 16, at 11 a.m., at St. Christopher Catholic Church, 12001 SE Federal Highway, Hobe Sound, Florida. Arrangements are by the Aycock Funeral Home Young & Prill Chapel, 6801 S.E. Federal Highway, Stuart, Florida.
