Robert “Rob” Chapell, Jr., 61, passed away unexpectedly on February 10, 2026. Rob is survived by his beloved wife, Karen Chapell of Stuart, Florida; his children, Amber Myers (Jack) of Cincinnati, OH, Alanna Chapell of Washington, DC, and Robert Chapell III of Plymouth, MI; and his step-sons, Anthony Doebrick and Andrew Doebrick (Amanda) of CT. He was a proud grandfather to Hudson and Hayden Myers, with another grandchild on the way. In addition to his wife and children, he is survived by his father, Bob Chapell; his brothers, Rich Chapell, Alan Chapell (Maria), and Mike Chapell (Eileen); and his nieces and nephew, Keily Gleason, Julia Chapell, Michael Chapell Jr., and Rose Chapell. He was predeceased by his mother, Eileen Sheridan Chapell, in 2024.
Born in Milford, Connecticut, Rob was raised in Stamford alongside his three brothers in a close-knit, proud Irish family. He studied engineering at Penn State University, a place that became part of his identity. Every football season, he could be found cheering on his team, never hesitating to shout “We Are!” to any fan within earshot… or anyone for that matter.
After graduation, Rob returned to Connecticut and began working at Thermatool Corp., where he met the love of his life, Karen. He quickly became her rock and embraced the role of stepdad to Anthony and Andrew. Together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and lasting friendships, beginning in their first home in Farmington Hills, Michigan, where they welcomed their children, and later in Dublin, Ohio. Wherever they lived, Rob formed instant connections, whether with neighbors gathered around a fire pit or sharing late nights by a backyard pizza kitchen.
At the suggestion of his mother, Eileen, Rob and Karen enrolled Amber in Irish dance at the age of three. Rob’s joy in watching his daughter dance soon led to Alanna and Robert joining as well. He enjoyed being a dedicated “Dance Dad,” learning to do hair and traveling the world to support competitions. Rob was always his children’s biggest cheerleader, present for every milestone and unwavering in his encouragement.
For more than thirty years, Rob worked in the automotive industry, committed to providing for his family and building a strong future for them. He ensured their life included not only hard work, but shared adventures and meaningful vacations that created lasting memories. He never missed an opportunity to tell his family how much he loved them and how proud he was.
Rob lived life with spontaneity and enthusiasm. If there was something new to try, he was all in — and once he had an idea, it was nearly impossible to say no. He loved shopping with his kids and claimed his own “fashionista” moments. He was silly and warm, happy to sit and watch cartoons or introduce his favorite childhood movies. He loved people, music, culture, and the joy of singing, joking, and playful banter — all of which he shared with Karen throughout their special life together. His humor, intelligence, and compassion live on in each of his children.
The Aycock Funeral Home Young & Prill in Stuart, FL is handling arrangements, and a memorial service and interment will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
