He was the 17th child of the late Fred D. and Delvina (Lavoie) Tousignant. He was born in Gardner, MA, on March 7th, 1934. He attended Holy Rosary Grammar School and graduated from Gardner High School in 1951. He graduated from Assumption College in 1955. He joined the US Army July 1955, as a French interpreter and became a sergeant while serving in the Korean War. He was stationed in Berlin, Germany.
He is survived by his wife Marie; 6 children, Terese Ternullo (Ron), Paul Tousignant (Vicki), Louise Deck (Rick); Tom Tousignant (Kathy), Deanne Ford (Mike), Joe Tousignant (Tracy);14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Thirteen brothers and sisters predeceased Ron. Surviving siblings are Pauline of Florida and two brothers, Normand of Virginia and Roger of Gardner, Massachusetts.
He followed in his father's footsteps, becoming a Real Estate Agent while living in Greenbelt, MD. He later became an accountant, preparing taxes for individuals and small businesses. The time had come for retirement, so he and Marie moved to Oak Island, North Carolina, where they settled in for years. One of his proudest career accomplishments was teaching a continuing education course for realtors in a makeshift classroom aboard the USS North Carolina battleship docked in Wilmington, NC. Ron loved traveling, making several trips over the years to Paris, Rome, Canada, and took several cruises. Ron had an opportunity to return to Berlin, Germany, where he had proudly served his country. Ron possessed many gifts. The one he enjoyed the most was writing funny stories and joke telling which he enjoyed sharing with residents at the local nursing homes. He really liked to make people laugh. Last but most importantly, his favorite, most cherished time was when Ron was with his family and friends.
Ron donated his body to the Miami School of Medicine, which had been planned for many years.
Donations can be made to Treasure Coast Hospice, Stuart, FL.
The celebration of life will be held at the Dolphin Inn Jensen Beach, FL, on March 9, 2024, at 4 p.m.
