

Vural was born in Turkey, where he graduated from Yildiz University with a Civil Engineering degree in 1949. After coming to the United States, he furthered his studies and received a Master’s Degree in Engineering from the University of Michigan in 1951.
In 1951, he began working as a Structural Engineer at Giffels and Rosetti in Detroit. Over his 40-year career there, Vural held many roles from Project Director to Owner and President, and Chairman of the Board of Giffels Associates. Giffels was one of the largest and well known architectural-engineering firms in the U.S.
Vural was a proud lifelong member and master Mason of the Lincoln Park Michigan Ionic Masonic Temple. He was a 32° Mason at the Valley of Michigan, plus a Noble with the Moslem Shriners.
Upon retiring in 1993, he spent his winters in Stuart, Florida where he enjoyed golfing at Mariners Sands Country Club. He moved to Florida permanently in 2004. Vural Uygur is survived by his first wife, Helen Uygur, and their four children, Erol Uygur, Kent (Debra) Uygur, Nadine Uygur, Cheryl White and his four grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his second wife, Virginia Uygur.
The family has chosen to remember Vural privately.
Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Aycock Funeral Home in Stuart, FL.
