

Wanda E. McCartney, age 101, entered peacefully into eternal rest on Wednesday September 16, 2015 at the Martin Nursing and Restorative Care Center in Stuart. She was surrounded by loving family and friends. Born on November 24, 1913 in Battle Creek Michigan, she was the daughter of the late Willard M. and Libby I. (Ostrander) Bayley. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 49 years CSM(Ret.) Vern H. (“Mac”) McCartney in 1995, loving sister Dorothy Latham, grandson Mark McCartney and daughter-in-law Lucy McCartney. Wanda moved to Stuart from her retirement home in Cape Coral, Fl in 1998. Wanda was a military wife for over twenty-five years and shared billets with her family in, Germany, Japan, Libya, and Italy. Wanda was a career civil servant who worked with the Department of Defense, as a Stenographer. Her most memorable time was spent working and raising her family at Fort Belvoir Virginia, which served as the home base for this oft traveled family. She was a lifelong member of the Congregational Church and served as a greeter at the Stuart Congregational Church until injuries prevented her participation at the age of 99. Wanda was an avid card player and enjoyed knitting, needle point, bingo, rummy cube, and scrabble until a few days prior to passing. Left to fondly cherish her memory are eldest son Craig and wife Jan of Alden, Michigan; daughter Sarah E. (Libbie) Faulk and husband Olan of Stuart; and son Ronald R. (Ron) of Stuart. She was the cherished “Grandma Mac” of 8 grandchildren: Scott McCartney of Detroit Michigan; Holly Matthews and husband Jack of Stuart; Shane McCartney of Alden Michigan; OJ Faulk and wife Celia of Culpeper, Va.; Mike Faulk and wife Sarah of Nashville, Tn.; Alex Faulk and wife Ashley of Front Royal, Va.; Keena McCartney of San Francisco, Ca.; Dana McCartney of Stuart; and two great grandchildren, Jasper and Grace Faulk of Culpeper, Va. Also surviving are two nieces, Joyce Dillow and Diane Latham of Wilmington, NC and Brother-in-law Doug McCartney and wife Mary of Denver Co. Friends and family will be received at the Aycock Funeral Homes, Young and Prill Chapel, located at 6801 SE Federal Highway (south of Cove Road) on Monday September 21, 2015 at 2:00 pm. Funeral services, officiated by Rev. Dr. Timothy Roberts, Pastor of Stuart Congregational Church, will follow at 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Treasure Coast Hospice.
