
Born November 17, 1933 in Augusta County, he was a son of the late Wayt Hamilton and Charlene (McClear) Whitesell. On November 5, 1955 he married Mary Clark. The two shared 66 years of wonderful marriage.
Carl was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, Stuarts Draft. Prior to retirement, he was employed by Polybond for 10 years. He was a U.S. veteran having served his country honorably with the Army. Joe was a talented woodworker, enjoyed golfing, and loved to mow grass. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Fred, Russell, Paul, and Wayt, Jr. Whitesell; and sisters, Helen Cash, Shirley Murphy, and Mabel Campbell.
Survivors include his loving wife, Mary (Clark) Whitesell; son, Scott Whitesell and wife, Elizabeth of Churchville; daughter, Crystal Bell and husband, Richard of Crimora; brother, Eugene Thomas “Jack” Whitesell and wife, Jane of Fishersville; grandchildren, Nathan Holmes and wife, Amber, Heather Quick and husband, Brandon, Allison Holmes, Caleb Whitesell and wife, Heather, and Kaitlin Whitesell and fiancé, Alain; great-grandchildren, Kenzie Holmes, Alyssa Payne, Colton Payne, Hailey Carilson, Kellcie Quick, and Layla Quick; favorite niece, Sandy Clark; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Following cremation, a graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 10, 2022 at Calvary United Methodist Church Cemetery, 2179 Stuarts Draft Highway, Stuarts Draft with Pastor Jenelle Watson officiating. All who plan to attend are asked to meet directly at the cemetery.
There will be no formal viewing or visitation at the funeral home.
