I met Charlie at Augusta Health Fitness Center about ten years ago.  I enjoyed walking with him, lap after lap, on the track and listening to stories of his high school basketball prowess and other sports memories.  Charlie once held the scoring record for Virginia high school basketball with 63 points in one game!  Charlie was also a Boston Red Sox fan and I am sure reveled in the World Series Championship this past fall.  I will certainly miss Charlie and his presence at the gym.  Olivia and I would like to express our sincere condolences to the family.  May he rest in peace.

Another story, I was too young to remember, we were going to the beach camping, and my pawpaw wanted to go but he was worried about not being comfortable & burning up in the pop-up camper. Mom and my dad, were able to convince him to go, even though he didnt believe the air conditioning on the camper would be good enough. The very first morning he got up, he said " I about froze to death." So needless to say, the next time he went to the beach with us he ended up staying in a hotel. 

Pawpaw, I am so happy that you are not suffering anymore and you are now at peace. I love you so much and I will miss you like crazy! I will see you again someday!! 

My pawpaw was a loving father and grandfather. He always made sure me and my mom were taken care of. He was a kind man but also stubborn and hard headed. He was very independent and never wanted help from anyone. As many of you know, every time you would ask him how he was he would say, and dear god, please forgive me, "I ain't worth a damn," or " Im madder than hell." 

Pawpaw always made sure I was happy. The nickname he called me was "Pooh." To this day I do not know where that nick name came from but as time went on I accepted it. He supported me through thick and then. He came to every single one of my basketball & soccer games, and my tennis matches. He was there no matter how well I did. Even though he realized I wouldnt be a basketball star, after I told him the reason I did not try to take the ball away from the other player was because "Pawpaw, it was her turn to have the ball." But he was very proud that I was one of the best free throw shooters on the team. 

Every Sunday, from when I was old enough to realize what football was, my pawpaw would come over to watch the Redskins game and eat dinner. We would always have spaghetti. My moms, mine and his favorite meal. We would sit in front of the tv watching the game and when there was a bad play or referee call, all I remember is pawpaw and mom yelling at the tv, like "what was that!" or "come on!" He also had season tickets to the Redskin games for a while. I didnt go to many games like him and my mom did but the first game I remember going to was when I was only 8 and all I remember was laying stretched out across the laps of my mom, my dad, and my pawpaw and fell asleep. I guess it wasnt a very exciting game since the Redskins lost! The second game I remember going to was for my birthday and was a little more exciting. It was the Redskins against the Cowboys and the Redskins actually won 28 to 7!
