

Born December 29, 1948 in Rockbridge County, she was a daughter of the late Aubrey Russell and Alice Virginia (Fox) Humphries.
Prior to retirement, Connie was employed by Mary Baldwin University where she worked as a secretary in the Athletic Department. She was a longtime and devoted member of Vesuvius Baptist Church, where she also sang in the church choir. Connie found great joy in life’s simple pleasures—shopping trips, vacations in the Smoky Mountains, and attending concerts, especially those of Kenny Rogers. Above all else, she cherished the time she spent with her family. She will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother, devoted sister, cherished aunt, and a dear friend to many.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, Aubrey Russell Humphries, Jr. and Beverly Ann Humphries.
Survivors include her son, Ronald Lee Staton, Jr. and wife, Donna, of Grottoes; daughter, Lacinda Lavender and fiancé, Danny Sheets, of Waynesboro; grandchildren, Brittany Renae Kisamore and husband, Derec, Ronald Gage Staton and wife, Heather, Hannah Nicole Staton, Aubrey Garrett Staton and fiancée, Oliva Cameron, Maddy Nicole Martin and husband, Cameron, and Colton Edward Lavender and fiancée, Sarah Johnson; great-grandchildren, Lucas Paul Acker, Kayleigh and Konner Lisette, Ryder Gage Staton and Effie Jane Staton; sisters, Carol Hale and husband, Jack, of Harrisonburg and Mary Lou Cash and significant other, Steve Arehart, of Waynesboro; special friend, David Wagner; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 17, 2026 at the Stuarts Draft Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 1870 Stuarts Draft Highway, Stuarts Draft.
Following the visitation, a funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Billy Coffey officiating. Burial will be private.
Active pallbearers will be Ronald Lee Staton, Jr., Danny Sheets, Ronald G. Staton, Aubrey Staton, Colton Lavender, Cameron Martin, and Jason Humphries.
The family would like to give a special heartfelt thank you to her sister, Mary Lou Cash and Steve Arehart, the staff of Augusta Health and Hospice of the Shenandoah for their love, care and support of Connie.
