Debra Lynn (Patch) McAlister

Born October 10, 1955 in Waynesboro, she was a daughter of the late Ray Harold and Dorothy Estella (Upchurch) Patch.

Debbie co-owned and operated Patch’s Trailer Sales in Waynesboro which started as a family business by her father and later was successfully managed by her and her two sisters. In addition to serving as the bookkeeper at Patch’s, she also worked alongside her husband, Mike, as the bookkeeper at their business, Mike’s Transmission in Stuarts Draft. Debbie was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, Stuarts Draft. Debbie enjoyed cooking for her family, taking trips to the beach, and frequently finding a casino to visit. Her greatest love and joy in life were her children and grandchildren. She was so proud of each of them and spending time with them meant everything to her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, who was the love of her life, William Michael “Mike” McAlister; stillborn daughter, Marlo Marie McAlister; and sister, Bea Higginbotham.

Survivors include her four children, Chad McAlister and wife, Heather of Stuarts Draft, Carla Sensabaugh and husband, Buck of Vesuvius, Cheri Sorrells of Stuarts Draft, and Christi Linhoss and husband, Bryan of Stuarts Draft; sister, Bobbi “Granny” Shiflett; grandchildren, Zachery Sensabaugh, Brianna Jack and husband, Jordan, Leah McAlister, Nathan Sorrells, Braylee Sensabaugh, Bentley Sorrells, Liam McAlister, and Raylynn Linhoss; two great-grandchildren, Kasen and Kallie Jack; special friend, Gail Gorman; a number of nieces, nephews, and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at Calvary United Methodist Church, 2179 Stuarts Draft Highway, Stuarts Draft with Pastor David Vaughan officiating.

There will be no formal viewing or visitation at the funeral home.
