Johnnie Lynwood Troxell

Johnnie Lynwood Troxell, 91, of Stuarts Draft passed away on Friday, January 22, 2021 at Birch Gardens Assisted Living, Staunton. Born September 18, 1929 in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Russell Lynwood “Buck” and Ethel (Landes) Troxell. Johnnie was a graduate of Waynesboro High School. Following high school, he served his country honorably with the U.S. Army from 1951-1953. Prior to retirement, he was employed by the former E.I. DuPont where he worked as an industrial mechanic for many years. Johnnie greatly enjoyed the game of golf and spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Janet (McCracken) Troxell; a son, Timothy Russell Troxell; and special aunt, Marguerite L. Troxell. Survivors include his son, Randy Troxell and wife, Scotti of Stuarts Draft; daughter, Melanie Hawkins and husband, Samuel of Murrels Inlet, SC; grandson, Jordan Troxell and girlfriend, Lesley of Canyon Lake, CA; brother, Ronald Troxell and wife, Margaret of Waynesboro; brother-in-law, John McCracken and wife, Beverly of Greensboro, NC; and cousin, Ann Bryant and husband, Roger of Waynesboro. A private burial will be held at Riverview Cemetery, Waynesboro. There will be no formal viewing or visitation at the funeral home. The family would like to give a special heartfelt thank you to the staff of Birch Gardens for their love and care of Johnnie.
