

Bob was born in Taos, New Mexico, to Ben and Mary Gomez on March 23rd, 1948. He graduated from Taos High School in New Mexico. Bob had a love of farming and ran his own dairy in Taos for over 10 years before opening his own overhead door business. After moving to Virginia in 1986, he continued running his own business, Bob’s Overhead Doors, installing overhead garage doors in the Shenandoah Valley and surrounding regions. He enjoyed working on old mechanical projects, restoring an old 1945 Chevy truck that belonged to his father, and a 1940’s Farmall tractor. Bob and his wife are founding members of Cornerstone Church of Augusta where they have been faithful members for over 30 years. Bob had a strong faith and loved to witness and pray for people.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by an infant sister, Lorraine Gomez.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Alta K. Gomez of Fishersville; his children, Robert Gomez Jr. and wife Janet of Fishersville, Dennis Gomez and wife Erin of Virginia Beach, and Victoria Mininger and husband Brian of Greenville; as well as his grandchildren, Michaela Misantone and husband Ben, Hayley Gomez, Morgan Gomez, Anna Henderson and husband Logan, Rachel Jackson and husband Derrick, Kendra Patton and husband Hayden, Kaitlyn Mininger, Carle Gomez, Dellaney Gomez and Riley Gomez. I addition, Bob is survived by three sisters, Bennie McJunkins, Frances Wilson and Jane Nichols and husband Tony; and five nephews; as well as a brother-in-law and close friend, Richard Kiser
A Celebration of Life service will be conducted on Saturday, November 15th, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Cornerstone Church of Augusta with Pastor Steve Rose officiating.
