William Michael “Mike” McAlister, 66, of Stuarts Draft went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at Augusta Health. Born September 20, 1952 in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late William Oliver and Eva Odessa (Cash) McAlister. On November 1, 1971 he married his high school sweetheart and soulmate, Debra Lynn (Patch) McAlister. The two shared a happy marriage of 47 years together. Mike was a devoted family man who always put his family first and enjoyed spending time with them. He owned and operated Mike’s Transmission in Stuarts Draft for 37 years. He was dedicated to his business, a hard worker and committed to serving the community. As an avid fisherman, Mike enjoyed spending time out on the water and recently bought his newest dream yacht “Debi Lyn”. He will be remembered as a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a stillborn daughter, Marlo Marie McAlister; brother, Leland McAlister; and sister, Janet Hutchinson. In addition to his loving wife, survivors include his four children, Chad McAlister and wife, Heather of Stuarts Draft, Carla Sensabaugh and husband, Buck of Vesuvius, Cheri Sorrells and husband, Joshua of Staunton, and Christi Linhoss and husband, Bryan of Stuarts Draft; special sister-in-law, Bobbi “Granny” Shiflett; grandchildren, Zachery Sensabaugh, Brianna Sensabaugh, Leah McAlister, Nathan Sorrells, Braylee Sensabaugh, Bentley Sorrells and Liam McAlister; siblings, Betty Johns of Waynesboro, Judy Frye of Jacksonville, FL, and Johnny McAlister of Fishersville; and a number of nieces, nephews, and friends. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at Calvary United Methodist Church, 2179 Stuarts Draft Highway, with Pastor David Vaughan officiating.
