

February 10, 1931 – May 4, 2015
Donald Louis Somers, of Sudbury, MA, son of the late Louis and Aileen Somers, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2015, from Alzheimer’s disease. He was born in Los Angeles, California on February 10, 1931.
Donald was the beloved husband of Nancy Jane Somers; they recently celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary on March 15, 2015.
During the Korean War, Donald was a United States Naval Aviator, and flight instructor. He was based on the USS Boxer and had 51 catapults and 64 carrier landings. He retired from the United States Naval Reserves in 1967.
His business career took him into many different roles, and he excelled in management consulting. An engaging and energetic seminar leader, Donald was a co-founder of The Forum Corporation in 1971. He retired from The Forum Corporation as a Senior Vice President in 1986. Donald later started West Concord Investments Advisors with a partner where he worked for several years.
He was an avid tennis player, becoming a ranked senior player in New England, and winning several silver and gold medals in the Massachusetts Senior games. He participated in the 2003 National Senior Olympics Games.
Donald was on the board of the Boston Classical Orchestra for many years.
An active member of the Sudbury Veterans of Foreign Wars, Donald held several positions including Vice Commander. He was the grand marshal of the Town of Sudbury Memorial Day Parade in 2011.
Donald loved to write and had his humorous essays published in several magazines.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy, son, Matthew Louis Somers and his partner, Frederic Barrock Lincoln, daughter, Cheryl Marie Somers Aubin and husband, Stephen Paul Aubin, grandson, Charles Somers Aubin, daughter, Donna Jane Somers, and brother-in-law, Edwin Johnsen. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and their families.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Helen Elizabeth Somers Johnsen, and brother, Richard James Somers.
He is being remembered by his many friends and family as a devoted husband and father, loyal friend and a man of integrity with a finely tuned sense of humor who loved and supported his immediate and extended family.
Visitation will be at Duckett-J. S. Waterman & Sons Home of Memorial Tribute, 656 Boston Post Road, Rt. 20, Sudbury, MA, on Saturday, May 9th from 3:00- 5:00 pm immediately followed by a memorial service at 5:00 o”clock.
