
Elizabeth White Newton, a resident of Sudbury since 1955, died Thursday, June 23, 2011 following a lengthy illness. She was 84 and the wife of the Honorable Francis. C. Newton, Jr. Born January 17, 1927, she was the daughter of the late James Dennis White and Lucy Nisbet White. She was a graduate of Mt Holyoke College and earned her Master of Education Degree at Framingham State College in 1969. Mrs. Newton was a Professional Girl Scout as an adult and volunteered with Girl Scout Troops as well as with Cub Scout and Boy Scout Troops in Sudbury. She was an Election Officer for the Town of Sudbury from 1989 thru 2007 and an elected member of the Sudbury Republican Town Committee for many years. She was also formerly an active member of the Sudbury Garden Club. In addition to her husband, Francis, she leaves two sons and their spouses; Francis C. Newton, III, and his wife, Susan, of Arlington and James W. Newton and his wife, Jane, of Sudbury. Mrs. Newton also leaves two brothers; the Honorable James N. White and Charles N. White, both of Amsterdam New York and five grandchildren; Christine E, Richard P., Matthew S., Jeffrey SW. and John S. Newton. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Episcopal Church, One Morse Road, Sudbury followed by interment in Wadsworth Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m.at Duckett-J. S. Waterman & Sons Home of Memorial Tribute, 656 Boston Post Road, Sudbury.
