Fredric L. Ganong

Fredric L. Ganong, age 89, of Sudbury, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was a cherished husband, devoted father, and proud grandfather.

He is survived by his beloved spouse of 43 years, JoAnn (DiGiandomenico), who stood by his side with unwavering support and love. He was preceded in death by his loving first wife, Maria DiGrappa Ganong.

Fredric leaves behind his beloved daughter, Maria (Chrissie) Ganong, and her husband, John Bauer, as well as his beloved son, Lou Ganong, and his partner, Danielle Schiavo, a brother in-law Robert DiGiandomenico and his wife Dorothy of Wellesley. He was a proud grandfather to Julianna, Matthew, and Lawson Bauer, Emma and Elianna Ganong, and Gianna Schiavo, who all brought immense joy to his life. He leaves behind many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Fredric had a distinguished career as an English teacher, serving as the Chair of the English Department at The Rivers School in Weston, MA, and as a faculty member in the English Department at Natick High School and Kennedy Junior High School in Natick. He was known for his dedication to education and his passion for literature, inspiring countless students throughout his tenure.

In addition to his professional achievements, Fredric was a devout member of St. Anselm Catholic Church in Sudbury, where he was a member of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, a lector and sang for many years with the Folk Group. He will be remembered for his warmth, kindness, and the deep connections he forged with his family, friends, and parishioners. His legacy will continue to live on through the lives he touched, and the memories shared.

A visitation for Fredric will be held on Friday, January 17, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Duckett-J.S. Waterman & Sons Home of Memorial Tribute, 656 Boston Post Road, Sudbury, MA 01776. A funeral mass will occur on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at 10:30 am at St. Anselm Church, 100 Landham Road, Sudbury, MA 01776. Burial will be private at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul in his memory. Donations can be mailed to St. Anselm Church – Rectory, 100 Landham Road, Sudbury, MA 01776.
