James Francis Finneran Jr., formerly of Framingham, MA, was born in Boston on December 29, 1937, passed away on February 17, 2026, following a brief illness.
James was a proud and honorably discharged United States Marine Corps veteran and a retired Massachusetts State Police Lieutenant. He served with the State Police for 30 years before retiring in 1990. After retirement, he continued his law enforcement career working for the Town of Stow, MA, for many years.
James enjoyed fast cars, flying planes, and riding motorcycles with friends. He also treasured time spent with his best companion, his dog Gunner.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine; his son, James; and his daughter, Lisa.
He is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth, and her husband, John; his four grandchildren, John Jr., Domenic, Christiana, and Shannon; and his great-grandchild, Maria. He also leaves behind his brother, Thomas; his sister, Barbara, and her husband, Donald; and his niece, Laura.
A wake for James Francis Finneran Jr. will be held at Duckett Funeral Home, 656 Boston Post Road, Sudbury, MA, on February 27, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
A committal service will follow at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA, from 1:15 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
