

Jean Mildred (Stickle) Goddard, age 95, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at St. Patrick’s Manor in Framingham, MA surrounded by her loving family. She was a longtime resident of Framingham and more recently Yarmouthport, MA and Naples, FL.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 53 years John Ervin “Pete” Goddard, Jr.; also by her son Davis Diehl Goddard; by her sister Barbara Stickle Mode; and by her parents Charles and Mildred (Diehl) Stickle. She leaves two daughters Charlene Goddard-Lyle and husband Barry Lyle of Boxborough, MA, Lindsay Kimball and husband Kevin Kimball of Framingham, two sons John Ervin “Ruddy” Goddard, III and wife Jane Goddard of Northborough, MA, Peter Goddard and partner Gerry Gaerlan of Minneapolis, MN; daughter-in-law, Lauren Goddard of Northborough. She was known as Gigi to her seventeen beloved grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.
Born in The Bronx, NY, the family moved to Massachusetts where she graduated from Milton High School having played on the girls’ basketball team and participated in varsity cheerleading. She went on to attend Vesper George School of Art, Boston.
Jean was a gifted artist of commissioned oil portraits, as well as landscape and floral watercolors. A lifelong sports enthusiast, she was an avid tennis player at Sudbury River Tennis Club and Longfellow Racquet Club, and enjoyed playing golf into her 80’s. She was a fervent Red Sox fan and watched most every game on TV taking great pleasure in their World Series wins.
She loved to sing and her beautiful voice could be heard far-and-wide. Music brought her great joy as a regular concert goer at the Naples Philharmonic. She was deeply spiritual, actively involved in many Bible study groups and retreats. Jean’s greatest passion and enjoyment in life was her family who were the center of her universe.
Visiting hours will be Wednesday, May 4, 2016 from 5-7PM at the Duckett – J.S. Waterman & Sons Home of Memorial Tribute, 656 Boston Post Road, Sudbury.
The funeral service will be held Thursday, May 5, 2016 at 10AM at the Memorial Congregational Church, 26 Concord Road, Sudbury, followed by burial at Edgell Grove Cemetery, Framingham.
