Lynda Helen (Maxwell) Thompson, of Sudbury, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 29, 2012 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Watertown, NY on December 14, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Edmund and Helen Maxwell. Lynda graduated from the State University of New York at Potsdam College of Education in 1963. It was during these college years that she first met the love of her life, Bill Thompson. They married on July 10th, 1965. She taught school during the early years of their marriage until choosing to stay home and raise their two children Elizabeth and Douglas. They made their life in Sudbury and their family enjoyed many activities together including skiing, neighborhood friends and summers at Lake Bonaparte near Lynda’s hometown of Carthage, NY. Later, Lynda went on to pursue a career in interior decorating. She had impeccable taste and was passionate about both her work and her clients. Lynda’s greatest joy in life was her family and many friends. She enjoyed tennis and walking, lunches and shopping, travel - which recently included trips to Paris and Italy, book club, and ‘gourmet’ which was made up of a group of couples sharing friendship for over 40 years. She especially loved family time spent both in Nantucket and at the lake. Lynda is survived by her husband Bill; her daughter, Elizabeth Hughes and her husband, George; her son, Douglas and his wife, Sara; her brother, Kirk Maxwell and his wife, JoAnne; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her brother, Dean Maxwell. We would like to express our gratitude to the entire team at Massachusetts General Hospital’s Neurosciences Intensive Care Unit for the excellent care they provided Lynda. Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Wednesday, December 5th, 2012 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Duckett - J. S. Waterman & Sons Home of Memorial Tribute, 656 Boston Post Road (Rt. 20), Sudbury. A memorial service will be held to celebrate her life on Thursday, December 6th, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at the Sudbury United Methodist Church, 251 Old Sudbury Road, Sudbury.
