

Margaret Louise (Cook) Tristán, 89, died peacefully April 14, 2012 at Wingate at Sudbury after a long illness. Born on March 13, 1923 in Lincoln, NE, she was the daughter of Paul Cook and Albena (Thege) Cook. Margaret was a Registered Nurse, having received an R.N. from Denver General Hospital, and a B.S. from Nebraska Wesleyan University. She was also a Special Education teacher with an M.A. in Special Education from Framingham State College.
A resident of Sudbury for 55 years, Margaret was a member of Memorial Congregational Church where she sang in the choir for over 40 years. She was an active volunteer in her community, and loved to learn and then share her knowledge with others. Her generous and compassionate nature will be genuinely missed.
Devoted mother of Julia Tristán and her husband Robert Bizzotto of Leominster, Sarah Steinmetz of Bloomington, IN, and Michael Peter Tristán, Jr. of Millis. Beloved grandmother of Katherine Steinmetz of Indianapolis, IN, Elizabeth Steinmetz of Bloomington, IN, and Sarah and Robert Bizzotto of Leominster. Loving sister of Paul Cook and his wife Sarah of Sun City, AZ, Marian Brown of Grand Island, NE, and the late Virginia Nye Newton and Howard Cook. Also survived by her dear sisters-in-law Faith Tristán of Camp Hill, PA and Mary Julia “Nena” Sanger of Dallas, TX, as well as many nieces, nephews, and numerous dear friends. She was predeceased by her former husband, Dr. Michael Peter Tristán, Sr.
A private interment was held at Wadsworth Cemetery in Sudbury. A memorial service will be held on Saturday July 21, 2012 ,11 AM at the Memorial Congregational Church in Sudbury. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Margaret's name to the American Lung Association or the charity of one’s choice.
