

Mitchell C. Azar of Tierra Verde, Florida for the past 25 years, died at St. Petersburg, Florida, Wednesday, June 5, 2013 following a brief illness. Formerly of Sudbury, he would have reached his 80th birthday June 20th. Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Chafie El-Azar and Adele Kennan Azar. Following high school he served with the United States Army during the Korean War for three years. An entrepreneur with a strong work ethic, he was always taking steps to better himself; working as a Boston taxi driver, hair dresser, pharmacist and insurance salesman. As a business man he established the Cambridge Coffee, Tea and Spice company, a chain of retail stores in various parts of the country, roasting their own coffees and featuring teas, gourmet foods, candles and giftware which he imported from his buying travels around the world. Mr. Azar owned Gemini Spirits liquor store in Cambridge for many years and was a shrewd real estate investor.He is survived by his four children: David M. Azar and his wife, Ellen Coletta, of Boston; Sabrina Chamness and her husband, William, of New Hampshire; Don M Azar of Cambridge, and Sandra Azar Duckett and her husband,William,of Sudbury. He also leaves his brother, Samuel Azar of Holliston; his former wife,Hosson Azar of Marlboro; his sister in law, Helen Azar, of Arlington; his brother in law, Pasquale Intraversato of Oregon; his grandchildren, Shara Buday and her husband Ryan, Jessica Sewell, Jason Sewell and his wife Jessica Taylor, Allison Khalamayzer and her husband Marc, Elizabeth Azar, Noelle Yankov, Brett Azar and Brenden Azar;his step grandchildren, Heather Duckett, MiMi Hoff and her husband Tristan, Katie Kelly and her husband Brian, Matthew Duckett and his wife Elisabeth, Ashley Duckett,one great grandson, Layne Sewell, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters, Lillian Elias and Emily Intraversato and his brother,George Azar. A memorial celebration of the life of Mitchell Azar will be held Saturday afternoon, July 6, from 3:00 to 5:00 pm with closing words by family and friends at 5:00 o’clock at the Duckett-J.S.
