

Aloysius J. Witt of New City, NY died October 14, 2015 at age 92. Born June 15, 1923 in Yonkers, NY to George and Isabel (Sherry) Witt. Al served honorably with the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a professional Photographer and had a successful career with the Journal News that lasted over 27 years. Al volunteered at the Interfaith Soup Kitchen in Spring Valley for over 20 years. He is the recipient of the Rockland County Sports Hall Fame- Joseph Holland Lifetime Achievement Award and he has received a Humanitarian Award for communities service. Al was also an Usher at Sacred Heart Church and St. Augustine’s Church. Survived by his loving children Alyse Adams (husband Thomas), Lois Langlois, Aloysius J. Witt, Jr. and Marie Witt, devoted grandchildren Tamsen, Loren, Kristin and Paul, cherished great grandchildren Ava, Marina, Hudson, Isabelle, Christopher, Matthew, Joseph, Emily and Tessa and a caring brother Arthur Witt.
He is predeceased by his beloved wife Angelina, a daughter Nancyrita Seeth and brothers George and William Witt. Visitation Sunday 2-4 & 7-9pm at Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home 177 Route 59 in Suffern. Funeral Mass Monday 10am at Sacred Heart Church in Suffern followed by an Interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, NY. Donations in Aloysius’ name can be made to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul.
