

Andrew G. Peters, 74, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, August 18, 2025. Known affectionately as “Andy” to family and friends, he was born in Emsdetten, Germany and came to New York City in 1957 with his parents, Alfonse and Anna, and his sisters, Barbara and Sabina. The family first settled on York Street in Manhattan, before making their home in the Woodside neighborhood of Queens.
Andy was a proud 45-year member of the International Union of Operating Engineers - Local 94, eventually rising to the role of Chief Engineer for some of Manhattan’s largest commercial properties. After retiring in 2018, he continued to share his knowledge and dedication as an instructor for Local 94’s school. He was deeply respected by his colleagues and known as a strong mentor who inspired future leaders in the union.
In 1976, Andy met the love of his life, Daphne Albies. They married in 1978 and spent 46 devoted years together. He is survived by his beloved wife Daphne, their children Maggie her husband Christopher Marra, his daughter Bridget, and son Andreas, as well as his cherished granddaughter Adrienne Marra.
Andy is also survived by his sister Barbara and her husband Raymond Litra, nieces Noelle, Caroline Coon and her husband Chris, and his sister Sabina Peters. His family circle also included his in-laws: Jeff and Andrea Albies and their daughters Erika Skokos her husband Dimitri and Ashlee and her husband Jeremy Lees, and Borys and Geraldine Schafran and their sons Nicholas his wife Ruchi and Matthew.
Growing up in Queens, Andy was affectionately nicknamed the “King of Woodside” by his friends. He cherished those early bonds and remarkably maintained many of those friendships from his childhood and teenage years throughout his life. He was a lifelong NY Mets, Jets, Knicks, and Rangers fan. In addition, he was a huge music fan; having grown up as a teenager in the 1960s, he loved rock and roll and never stopped enjoying listening to music.
Throughout his life, he carried that same charisma, strength, and loyalty, commanding respect both personally and professionally. To his family, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. To his colleagues, he was a leader and mentor. To all who knew him, Andy was a man of great character, humor, and heart.
Visitation will be held at Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home, located at 177 Route 59, Suffern, NY, 10901, United States, on August 25, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and again from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
The funeral service will take place at the same location on August 26, 2025, from 12:00 pm to 12:45 pm.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who were fortunate to know and love him.
