Bernadette Bergin

Bernadette Bergin, of Tuxedo Park, New York passed away on Friday, September 29, 2023, at the age of 87. She was born in Northern Ireland in 1936 to Walter and Anne Johnston and moved to the U.S. in the early 1960s. Bernadette was predeceased by her husband, Edward, son, Christopher, and daughter, Breta. She is survived by her sons, Stephen, and his wife Cindy, Paul, and his wife Karen, daughter-in-law Ulrike, and daughters, Anne, and her husband John, Mary, and her husband Brian. Bernadette was a proud grandmother to her 10 grandchildren, Brandon, Christopher, Stephanie, Brett, Kacie,Troy, Caroline, Julia, Aidan, and Eamon. She is also survived by her sister Edina, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Prior to moving to the U.S., Bernadette's passion for travel led to her living in Kuwait and Italy. It was in the U.S. that Bernadette met the love of her life, her husband Ed and his three sons. Together they raised the boys, and their three daughters in Mahwah, NJ, Old Lyme, CT, and Tuxedo, NY.

Bernadette was an entrepreneur. Her lifelong interest in antiques led to her running the Nearly New Shop in Suffern, NY, from the 1980s through the late 1990s. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Tuxedo, NY.

A visitation for Bernadette will be held Sunday, October 8, 2023, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home, 177 Route 59, Suffern, New York 10901. A mass of Christian burial will occur Monday, October 9, 2023, at 12:30 PM at Sacred Heart Church, 129 Lafayette Ave, Suffern, New York 10901. A burial will occur Monday, October 9, 2023, at St. Elizabeth Cemetery, 38 Chapel Turn, Tuxedo Park, New York 10987.
