It is with deep love and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Bill Kartanos, who left this world peacefully in December 2025. Born on January 21, 1950, in Perigiali, Lefkada, Greece, Bill was the cherished son of the late Efstathios Kartanos and Stamatia (née Thermos) and the brother of Foteini, Jerry (deceased), and Ioanna. His journey from the Ionian coast of Greece to a life built with perseverance, dedication, humor, and generosity in the United States was marked by resilience, boundless love, and a spirit that touched all who knew him.
Bill is survived by his beloved life-partner, Lisa A. Miller, who was his soul-mate and partner in every sense of the word. He leaves behind his loving and dedicated daughter, Marina Kartanos-Stathos, and his son-in-law, Gus, both of whom brought him immeasurable pride and joy. Bill adored his grandchildren Anastasia and Vassilios who were his pride and joy, finding some of his happiest moments in their laughter and company. The time he spent with them in Greece was priceless to him.
Known for his sharp wit and warm smile, Bill had a remarkable gift for bringing levity to any gathering. His humor was matched only by his kindness and unwavering devotion to his family. He was a passionate cook who delighted in preparing meals that brought everyone together, and he maintained a love of running, at which he excelled, embracing the discipline, competition, and freedom it offered him.
Bill’s presence will be profoundly missed, but his legacy—of love, laughter, dedication, and strength—will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
