We are not believing that uncle will not be again around us in Greece..

It was one of the saddest moment of our life. A shockinh news that noone expected. 
Uncle was as strong as his father.

We thank uncle Bill and aunt Lisa Lisa for all the love and care.

His sister Foteini is thinking of him as well as uncle Jerry.
Hopefully that one day they meet again and play as they used to as kids. 

She will miss the long conversations and funny memories .

Sad that she will never cook his favourite greek dishes.

The saddness of Foteini is beyond words

I know that uncle s spirit will be around and i hope that he will meet uncle jerry.

Bob and I offer our deepest condolences for the loss of Bill. Our time spent with him was limited but very enjoyable.  Our hearts break for you, Lisa. Bill was your person and you his. Bill will be missed greatly.  Peggy and I always enjoyed the phone calls to our home in Niagara Falls and seeing Bill and Lisa whenever we came to New York City for the marathon.  We were so happy that we got to share Bill's celebration of his 70 birthday and since we were only born 9 days apart I always had fun calling him the old man!

We are brief as summer lightning, we are swift as swallow's flight.
We are sparks that spiral upward, in the darkness, in the night.
We are frost upon the window, we won't pass this way again.
In the end, only love remains....

We know Bill left much love behind.  Rest in peace Bill....

Dear Family,

Bill spread joy. That is what I remember most. He welcomed everyone, he delighted in children, and he could find humor in anything.  He was an optimist and saw potential where others didn't. Case in point: The Bungalow! But he was willing to do the work and he was patient. He started life with so little and created so much- a life of love, a beautiful family, deep relationships, and good times. I hope those good times are memories you cherish forever.

Bill was a great cook! In one of my visits to he and Lisa, I followed him around the kitchen as he explained how each dish needed to be prepared. Despite taking meticulous notes, I was unable to duplicate his delicious Briam. I called Bill for guidance. “ Did you put enough olive oil”, he asked.  “Did you put it in the  bottom rack of the oven at 400 degrees “? I will remember him every time I cook!

Not one to mince words, Bill griped at Lisa and myself for watching a particular reality program. “How can you watch that stupid show”?, he’d protest.  Asked if he’d watch the following week’s episode, he’d respond with his usual “fuhgeddaboudit”!! Yet he continued to watch and provide commentary.

Nowhere was Bill more spirited than when Lisa was driving the car. Sitting in the back seat watching them argue the rules of the road was like watching a verbal championship match except I could never figure out who won the feud.

My husband Ahmed and I loved Bill. His honest, direct communication, his wit, his generous hospitality and so many other qualities endeared him to us instantly.  In the last  6 plus years Bill fought an extraordinary battle for his health. He was a true warrior, and he will be missed.

To Bill's family,
Sending my condolences and prayers to all of you. I was Bill's mailman back in the early 2000's for several years. I had many chats with him and we kidded around a lot. His name rang a bell with me just now, and now that I had seen his picture, it brought back memories.
I retired as a mailman in 2015 and moved out of NY for North Carolina.
I will keep you all in my prayers.

Bill will be sorely missed ! He was a great friend and an excellent neighbor. We had many great conversations about our Greek heritage, and especially Greek cooking !! He would always be there to lend a hand if needed. His zest for life was infectious and was apparent in his actions. He loved to laugh and tell stories !! He will be greatly missed. Condolences to Lisa and his family.

Bill was a super-kind and generous soul, and liked to live life.

He came here with a few coins in his pocket, lived the American immigrant success story, and always repaid & shared kindness and treasure with friends, family, and someone in need.

Bill loved to show friendship & affection with his cooking, and you never left his meal hungry (or thin). I'll miss his dinners, and the entertainment of his managing your plate and portions for you.

Rest in Peace my friend; you, your humor & commentary, and culinary feasts, will be very much missed.

PS - the dog too will miss the "to-go" care packages.
