Dennis was a man of great strength and character strong, funny, stubborn, generous, and deeply caring. Above all else, he was the rock of his family, someone who could always be counted on for support, guidance, and love.
Dennis proudly served the people of New York as a NYPD Sergeant ( retired), dedicating years of his life to protecting others and serving his community with honor.
Outside of his career, Dennis found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He was a loyal New York Yankees fan, and in the spring and summer he loved planting flowers, sitting outside listening to his radio, enjoying a cold beer, and spending time with his beloved wife, Joann. Those quiet moments, surrounded by family and sunshine, meant the world to him.
Dennis was predeceased by his parents, Edward and Dorothy Hunter, and by his longtime partner, Tina Bridgforth, with whom he shared many years.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Joann Hunter; his daughter, Christine Rouzier and her husband Patrick Rouzier; his granddaughter, Ashley Mendoza Rouzier and her husband Ovet Mendoza; his grandsons, Patrick Dennis Rouzier and Christopher Rouzier; and his cherished great-granddaughter, Halaïa Selen Rouzier, daughter of Patrick Dennis Rouzier.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home on Saturday, March 14, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dennis’s memory to Wounded Warrior Project, the Rockland County ASPCA, or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, charities that were close to his heart.
Dennis will be remembered always for his strength, humor, and unwavering love for his family.
