

Edward H. Schwabacher of Airmont, New York passed away on March 23, 2011 after a brave battle with cancer. He was born in Brooklyn, New York on June 30, 1949. The son of the late Elaine LaMere and Edward W. Schwabacher. Edward is survived by his loving wife of twenty years, Helen Schwabacher; his two children David and Lauren and their spouses; two grandchildren Brody and Carter; sister Joyce O’Conner; brother Richard Schwabacher and his many loving nieces and nephews. Edward served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Thereafter, Edward worked in the transportation industry for a total of thirty-five years and ultimately retired as Superintendent of Maintenance for MTA at College Point, Queens. He enjoyed spending time with his loving family and friends. In his spare time he enjoyed gardening, woodworking and photography. The funeral services will be held at Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home in Suffern, New York on Friday, March 25, 2011, from 2:00pm-4:00pm and 7:00pm-9:00pm. On Saturday, March 26, 2011, a Catholic Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00am at Saint Boniface Church in Wesley Hills, New York with Interment to follow at Ascension Cemetery in Airmont, New York. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Cancer Association, Saint Jude’s Hospital and the American Heart Association.
