Henry D. Smith, 83, of North Palm Beach, FL and Ship Bottom, NJ, formerly of New Hempstead, NY, and Glen Rock, NJ, passed away after a long illness on Sunday, August 18, 2013. He graduated Ridgewood HS and served in the US Army during the Korean War. Henry started his own business, Henry Smith, Inc. and became a successful utility contractor in the tri-county area. He retired in 1994 and enjoyed golf in his leisure time.
Henry leaves behind his devoted wife Irene Smith (nee Lesko), his beloved children Bruce Smith and wife Susan of Stony Point, NY, Donna Licata of Allendale, NJ, four loving grandchildren, Allison, Lauren, Dawn and Jonathan and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home, 177 Route 59, Suffern, NY 10901 on Friday, August 23, 2013 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church, Suffern, NY on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at 10:30 AM with the interment to follow at Ascension Cemetery, Airmont, NY.
