Jose “Joey” Opulencia of Chestnut Ridge, NY, was called home to heaven on January 21, 2019, he was 77 years old. He was born in Batangas, Philippines on November 30, 1941. He graduated from the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, Philippines in 1964 and moved to the United States in 1965. He had a long, distinguished career as a radiologist, at Bellevue, NYU and Manhattan VA hospitals.
He is survived by his loving wife, Flo, his children, Hector (Kristin) and Joy (Michael), his grandchildren, Julianne, Chloe, Mason, and Elyssa, his siblings, Josefina, Julieta, Juan Jr., Jasmine, Chuchi, Justo, and Juanita, and many loving nephews, nieces, in-laws, cousins, and devoted friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Julieta, and his brother Chito.
He was a loyal member of Tagaste Monastery’s Secular Augustinian Recollect Fraternity and faithful parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Suffern, NY. He was a former president of the Philippine American Seniors Association of Rockland.
