

Lawrence Michael Bensky of Suffern, New York, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and dedication to family and country. He was born on March 2, 1945, in the Bronx, New York, to the late Irving and Nettie (née Podolsky) Bensky. Born and raised in the Bronx, Larry later made Rockland County his home, where he resided for the last 40 years.
Lawrence proudly served his country as a United States Army veteran during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he built a long and respected career in the film industry, working as a film editor for Duart Film and Editing in New York, where he dedicated more than 30 years before retiring.
On September 13, 1997, he married the love of his life, Theresa Addonizio, in Nyack, New York. Together they shared many happy years, including traveling and spending time with family and friends.
Larry was known for his quick wit and great sense of humor. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, he cherished the special time he spent with each of his grandchildren. He loved going fishing with his grandson Jake. He and his grandson Drew shared a special bond over their love of Yankees games, a tradition that was uniquely theirs. He was also a proud and supportive grandfather who rarely missed his granddaughter Ava’s dance recitals.
He was an active member of Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter #333, where he valued the camaraderie and friendship of fellow veterans.
Lawrence is survived by his beloved wife, Theresa Bensky; his son, Scott Bensky and his wife Joanne; his sisters, Janice Plitnick and Barbara Klorman; and his cherished grandchildren, Jake, Drew, and Ava. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Cryptside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at St. Charles Cemetery in Farmingdale, New York.
Lawrence will be remembered for his humor, his loyalty to those he loved, and the joy he brought to the lives of everyone who knew him.
