It is with the deepest sorrow that we inform you of the death of our beloved mother, Grandmother Marie Rose Wren. Marie is survived by her son Steven Wayne Wren (Nancy Genova,) grandchildren, Brian Wren, Kelly Wren-Medina (Joey Medina,) Brendan Wren and Kayla Wren-Flagg (Cristopher Flagg).
Marie Rose Wren was born on January 11, 1922 to George Edgar DeBaun and Marie Rose Steffens in Clarkstown. Marie worked as the Secretary to President of The Bank of New York for twenty-four years. As a child Marie lived on farm on West Clarkstown Rd. There she loved horseback riding as they owned several horses. Right before World War II she met Creighton Wren and they were married before he was deployed. The couple had two boys William (Billy) and Steven (Steve). She lived in Nanuet during her adult years with the family. They also owned a summer home in Indian Lake which a beloved place for the entire family. Marie enjoyed traveling in her retirement. When her husband passed away, she traveled with her eldest granddaughter Kelly. Marie was a member of the Hillcrest Ladies Auxiliary. Marie loved arts and crafts; she painted, crochet, and needlepoint. She also enjoyed reading and entertaining. Marie was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Nanuet. Marie loved a good joke, especially at her son’s Steve’s expense. They always had an exchange each time he changed her hearing aide batteries, she would say; “it’s not the batteries it’s my ears they don’t work they’re old” this would always be followed with laughter. Marie was a resident of Northern River View in Haverstraw, NY.
Due to the current pandemic a private viewing took place with immediate family at Wannamaker Funeral Home, Suffern, NY. A grave side service will take place once the social distancing restrictions are lifted at the Frederick Loescher Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spring Valley, NY.
She is pre-deceased by her beloved husband Creighton Wren and eldest son William Creighton Wren and brother George DeBaun.
