Michael “Mickey” James DeSimone, age 58, died suddenly on Tuesday, December 30th, 2014 at Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, New Jersey. Born August 16th, 1956, to Sebastian and Barbara DeSimone in scenic Sloatsburg, NY, Mickey enjoyed a rambunctious childhood with his elder brother David and younger brother Daniel. Mickey was a revered guidance counselor, as well as a wrestling, lacrosse, and football coach at Suffern High School for 35 years. Despite his numerous athletic achievements, he was most proud of his family; Mickey is survived by his wife Sandra and his three children, Micaela, Lely and Gray. Nonetheless, he was a father figure to countless others which only solidified his significant presence within the Suffern community. Mickey was a role model, a leader and a molder of men, and to say his presence will be missed is a gross understatement. The wake for Mickey will be held on Saturday, January 3rd, and Sunday, January 4th, at 2-4pm and 7-9pm at Wanamaker and Carlough Funeral Home 177 Route 59 in Suffern. Funeral Mass Monday 11am at Church of the Presentation in Upper Saddle River. Committal Private.
