Bob Gioia passed away suddenly the evening of April 17, at home, the place he loved most, doing what he loved most--sitting on his patio having cocktails and cooking dinner for his wife Deirdre while planning another dinner party.
Robert Anthony Gioia, who was known to his family and friends simply as Bob, was a devoted husband and father. Although his time was cut short he is survived by many. His wife and soul mate Deirdre, their two children, Matt and Carolyn whom he loved deeply and vice versa. In addition one could never leave out is his dog, Gracie and a long list of cherished friends who he had the privilege of knowing for 50 years, if not more.
Born November 16, 1951 in Jersey City NJ, his family moved to Rockland county where he grew up. He spent most of his life deeply involved in and around his community of Suffern NY. A longtime entrepreneur in the video business, Bob loved the outdoors and was an enthusiastic hiker, cyclist, gardener and cook.
Bob lived a wonderful life, full of family, friends and rich with experience. He lived his life to the fullest and often claimed to be the richest man in the world.
His contagious love of life, kind heart, generosity and ever present quick wit will be forever missed.
Bob's life will be celebrated at the Water Wheel Restaurant in Suffern, New York on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate a contribution of $5 to be made in Bob's memory to Hi Tor Animal Shelter in Pomona, NY.
