

Rolando "Rolly" Quijano Garcia, of Chestnut Ridge, NY, passed away with his family by his side on Wednesday, February 18, 2015. Rolando was born to Rodolfo and Veronidia Garcia on October 23rd, 1951 in Cavite City, Philippines. Rolly served proudly in the United States Coast Guard from 1972 until his retirement in June of 1998. He earned various commendations and medals including the Southwest Asia Service Medal for his service in the Persian Gulf War. He was a member of the NRA and the Anthony Moscarella American Legion Post #199. He was active in the Philippine American Twinning Committee in Ramapo, the Filipino Association of Rockland, the Maharlika - FAR Bowling League, and PASAR the Philippine American Senior Association of Rockland. He was a dedicated parishioner of St. Anthony's Church in Nanuet, NY.Rolando is survived by his beloved wife of 36 years Thelma (Villegas) Garcia, cherished daughters Rochelle Garcia (Michael Pracht) of Troy, NY and Katherine Garcia of Chestnut Ridge, NY, caring siblings Serafin, Luzviminda, Beatriz, Consolacion, Christina, Francisca, Rowena, Ricardo, Nenita, Maria Luisa, Anita, Maria Gracia and Edgardo, and many loved nieces, nephews and friends. He is predeceased by his parents and siblings Yolanda and Edmundo.Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2015 from 7-9 PM and on Sunday, February 22nd from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home, 177 Route 59, Suffern, NY. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:30 AM Monday, February 23, 2015 at St. Anthony's Church, Nanuet, NY. Committal is private.
