

Sal was the only son of Frank and Luisa Bifulco, who came to the United States from Italy in 1932. He was born in 1935 in Brooklyn NY, a few years after his older sister, Gilda, who survives him.
Sal attended Brooklyn Catholic schools and then went to St. John’s University in Queens, NY where he graduated with a B.S. and MBA from the School of Pharmacy. Sal served in the United States Army, deployed to Fort Benning and New Mexico.
Upon his return from the service in the late-1950’s, Sal obtained employment with several large pharmaceutical companies including Squibb, Lederle, and Ciba-Geigy. Sal also worked part-time for many years as a pharmacist in the evenings and on weekends to provide for his family.
During the early-1960’s, he met the woman who would become his wife, Marie Iorio. They were married for 63 years with three children: Frank, Stephen (Maria) and Laura (Brian). Grandparents to four: Matthew (April), Stephanie (Tyler), Nicole (Joseph), and Amanda.
Active in the Saint Boniface Catholic Church in Monsey, NY in the 1960’s and 1970s and before that an altar boy at Saint Rita’s Catholic Church in Brooklyn, NY. A die-hard Brooklyn Dodgers fan in the 1940’s and 1950’s, he later transferred his rooting interest to the New York Mets, inspiring his two sons to do the same.
Viewing at Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4-8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday November 13, 2024 at 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 900 Darlington Ave, Mahwah NJ 0743. A committal service to follow at 11:15 AM to 11:45 AM at Marycrest Cemetery & Mausoleum, 770 Darlington Ave., Mahwah NJ.
