A ray of hope flickers in the sky. A tiny star lights up way up high. All across the land dawns a brand new morn. It was a beautiful day on March 18, 1970 in Port-au-Prince, Haiti when Jeanette Lambert and Raphael Michel gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. They named her Veronique Michel and throughout her 46 years of life her presence would be a blessing to those who came before and after her birth.
With 8 siblings, she learned to share, care and forgive. Her upbringing would lead her to become a dignified, virtuous and noble woman, one who feared and gave her life to helping others in need. Veronique was blessed with two children, Kevin Milfort and Nickel Vil.
Veronique did not miss a day of work or a moment to teach God’s word to her children. Her teachings instilled a love for Jesus Christ, which gave her family strength throughout their life’s journey. Her faith in God’s power gave her confidence, courage, and compassion to love others. This was exemplified in her life’s work as a CNA, school bus driver and a geriatric counsellor for mental disorders elderly in Rockland County, NY.
In 1979, Veronique moved to the United States, where she would be overjoyed with love from her family. She lived in Boston, MA, Brooklyn, NY and Spring Valley, NY wher she was a lifelong area resident. It was to no surprise that her family and friends would enjoy the nurture and care of their daughter, sister and niece. The same nurture, care, and love she showed her two children. She continued to shower her love to everyone that became part of her family; such as cousins and in-laws.
In addition to cooking, baking and volunteering at various food pantries, she was a member of the local St Joseph’s church. Veronique gave hugs, kisses and infectious smile that brought a sense of comfort and warmth. Her love was deep and powerful to everyone who was touched by her. It is love that is unforgettable. Her love to celebrate life, devotion and compassion to her family and friends resonates in their minds and heart.
Veronique Michel is survived by her mother and father, Jeanette Lambert and Raphael Michel, brother Andy Lambert, Sisters Violina and Violette Michel along with 5 other siblings; husband Jean Sony Vil, two children, Kevin Milfort and Nickelle Vil and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. She is preceded in death by grandparents, Renee and Jered Piret.
