William Gaynor, 77, of Suffern, NY passed away on May 31, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. Bill was born in Manhattan on June 25, 1944. As a child his family moved from Washington Heights to the Bronx, where he would later graduate from DeWitt Clinton High School, and marry Marilyn Allison. Together they raised two daughters, Christine and Kerri.
Bill obtained a Broker’s License, and became a Stock Broker on Wall Street where he spent twenty years. He was promoted to V.P. of the Institutional Equities Division of Donaldson, Lufkin, and Jenrette. Bill moved the family to Yonkers, where the children grew up, and he left Wall Street in pursuit of a less stressful career. Bill and Marilyn then moved to Rockland County for retirement. He was a fan of B rated Horror films from the 80’s, animals, anything chocolate (including chocolate ice cream), red wine, photography, late night talk shows, the Yankees, racket ball, swimming, spending quality time with his family, and making the BEST chocolate pudding pie. He will be remembered as a sweet, kind, and gentle man with a great sense of humor. He worked hard to support his family. He was a devoted husband and father, and loving grandfather. He wore baseball hats ALWAYS. He was one of a kind, and will be missed forever. He fought a long, hard battle with lung illness.
Bill was the son of Loretta Dugan, and grandson of Helen McCarthy. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn, daughters, Christine and Kerri, and granddaughters, Jackie and Lauren.
A memorial visitation for William will be held Monday, June 6, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home, 177 Route 59, Suffern, New York 10901.
