ALBERT EDWARD EWER, age 78, of Sugar Land, Texas, passed away Friday, July 10, 2015. He was born October 14, 1936, in North Hills, Pennsylvania, to Albert Thomas and Dorothy Gowen Ewer. Albert met his loving wife Lydia in San Antonio, Texas, in 1960. Lydia preceded Albert in death on July 17, 1999, after thirty-nine loving years. To the day Albert died he was in love with Lydia, and celebrated their anniversary alone every year following her death. Albert loved his wife and family dearly.
Albert worked as Program Manager of the Nuclear Fusion Mapping program for the Teleflex Corporation until 1976. Following his time with Teleflex, Albert served as a government contractor with the United States Navy until 1989. In the spring of 1989, Albert sought a more humble live. He worked for St. Theresa’s Catholic Church cooking for the priests, and performing various other duties. Several years later, Al found himself managing affairs for the Basilian Fathers Mission in Sugar Land, Texas. He always said that this humble career has made him happier than any other in the past.
Albert, a very strong and stern man, very much lived his life for God, Country, and Family. He was a very faithful man, a patriot, and he loved his country. Albert also loved the work he did with the Knights of Columbus and was a staunch supporter of pro-life causes.
Albert is survived by his son, Rick Ewer and his wife Amanda; daughter, Debi Sands; brother, David Ewer and his wife Gerry; five grandchildren, Jeremy, Aaron, Nicholas, Adrian, and Chelsea; and one great-grandson, Kai.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, July 17, 2015, at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 705 St. Theresa Blvd., Sugar Land, TX 77498. The Rite of Committal will follow at Memorial Oaks Cemetery, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX 77079.
