

Barbara was born January 26, 1926, in Danville, Illinois, to Paul and Isabelle Strauss Esslinger.
Her family moved to Peru, Indiana, when she was five years old. There she attended school and graduated from Peru High School in 1943. Her Senior year she was elected May Day Queen and was crowned at the School May Day Festival.
She worked at Sherrill Research, in Peru, until 1946, when she married Robert H. Popejoy and went to West Lafayette, Indiana. Robert continued his studies after serving in World War II, and he received a B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering
from Purdue University while Barbara worked at Ross Gear and Tool Co.
After graduation in 1949, they went to Painted Post, New York, where Bob worked for Ingersoll Rand Co., and they started their family.
Barbara was a member of Painted Post Presbyterian Church and taught Sunday School there. She also did volunteerr work at Corning Hospital while living in Painted Post. She and her family joined Grace Presbyterian Church in Houston upon moving to Texas in 1980.
She was a dear and loving mother and dedicated her life to her family.
Barbara was preceded in death by her daughter, Judith L. Popejoy; her parents; two sisters; and two brothers.
She is survived by her husband of sixty-five years; children, David Popejoy (Marsha) of Issaquah, WA,
Pam Moss (Sina) of Lone Tree, CO, Debbie Wadkins of Irving, CA, and Amy Ping (Bryan) of Richmond, TX;
and grandchildren, Kristyn and Karl Popejoy, Kelly Moss, Kennedy and Kayden Wadkins, and Tyler and Trevor Ping.
A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 PM, Friday, March 25, 2011, at The Settegast-Kopf Co. @ Sugar Creek, 15015 Southwest Freeway, Sugar Land (Williams Trace Exit).
