Bart graduated from University of Tennessee in 1970 with a degree in Psychology. After graduating, he began working for KFC Corporation as an Assistant Store Manager, in Louisville, Kentucky. He eventually worked his way up to become the Director of Operations for South East Asia.
In 1985, Bart met the love of his life, Helena Turner. By 1987, they had opened their first KFC franchise in Bay City, Texas, and their company, Fields’ Fast Foods, ultimately expanded into twenty-one restaurant locations.
Bart enjoyed spending time with his family as well as going on ski trips, European trips, and other vacations. In addition to traveling, he loved being at his family’s lake house in Austin, Texas. He also enjoyed motorcycles and muscle cars. He often modified and repaired the classic cars he loved to drive. Every year, he went on the “Hot Rod Power Tour” which is a drive across different parts of the United States, with his brother Eric, in their muscle cars. He took great pleasure in interacting with others that shared his passion for cars.
Bart is survived by his wife, Helena and their children: Lauren and Brandon; Sister Sonja and husband Michael Kellett; Brother Eric and wife Teresa and their children Bradley and Abbie.
Service will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at The Settegast-Kopf Funeral Directors at 2:00PM in The Morrow Chapel.
