

CHADBOURNE “CHAD” BRYAN SMITH, age 90, passed away peacefully on February 10, 2015. Chad was the only son of Joshua S. and Margret H. Smith of Webster Grove, Missouri, a suburb of St. Louis. Born February 18, 1924, in St. Louis, Chad attended Webster Grove High School and Washington & Lee University, graduating with a B.A. Degree in Chemistry. From 1943 to 1945, Chad proudly served his country in the United States Air Force earning the rank of 1st Lieutenant, flying 35 combat missions as a bombardier/navigator with the 15th Air Force based in Italy.
Returning from the war, Chad met his beloved wife of 56 years, Vivian (Bebe) A. Smith of Shamokin, PA, while working together at Baltimore Distillery. Bebe preceded him in death in 2006. During his life Chad worked as a research chemist for Dow Chemical in Freeport, TX, and worked 25 years for Clorox as a manufacturing plant manager in Tampa, FL, Houston, TX, Kansas City, KS, and Pleasanton, CA. Chad loved playing golf and tennis, enjoyed sailing, and enjoyed working crossword puzzles, all while being a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather.
Chad is survived by his proud children, Margret (Mardi) R. Timpson, a registered nurse in Cardiff, CA, and Anderson (Andy) P. Smith, an architect/project manager with Rice University in Houston, TX and his wife Susan Smith of Missouri City, TX; and his grandchildren, Chadbourne Smith, Kevin Reusch, Elizabeth Smith, and Christopher Smith.
A Memorial Celebration of Chad’s life will be held at 3:00 PM, Sunday, February 15, 2015, at The Settegast-Kopf Co. @ Sugar Creek, 15015 Southwest Freeway, Sugar Land (Williams Trace Exit).
