

Charles, "Charlie", Johnson, 73, of Sugar Land, Texas, passed away from complications related to lung cancer on December 1, 2016. Charlie was born on September 14, 1943 in Ruston, Louisiana, to Rufus Bert and Mildred Johnson. After serving in the National Guard, Charlie began a long career with the Internal Revenue Service. After a long and successful career, Charlie retired from the IRS to become a full time Sheriff Deputy for the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Department. Upon retiring from the FBCSO, Charlie spent his free time playing golf and working once a week as the marshal for The Golf Club at Cinco Ranch. Charlie was preceded in death by his wife of 30 years, Carolyn Johnson. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Johnson of Sugar Land; his son and daughter in law, Steven and Missi Johnson of Sugar Land; his son Keith Johnson of Dripping Springs; and his son and daughter in law Kevin and Stacey Johnson of Austin. Charlie is also survived by his 8 grandchildren, Matthew, Kyle, Reese, Trey, Marilyn and Silas Johnson, and Derek and Jacob Drury. Charlie was a proud and devoted grandfather who loved to watch his grandchildren grow up and excel in their various extra-curricular activities. He will greatly be missed. Family and friends are invited to celebrate the life of Charlie Johnson on Monday, December 5, 2016 at First Colony Church of Christ, located at 2140 First Colony Blvd., Sugar Land, Texas. A visitation will be held at 9:30 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at Cook Walden Forest Oaks Memorial Park, located at 6300 W. William Cannon Drive, Austin, Texas. Family and friends are welcome to attend.
