Darlene Dye, 74, of Sugar Land, TX passed away November 10, 2020. She was born in Smithville, TX on June 30, 1946 to Mickey and Dottie Mikulenka. She grew up in Houston, TX and graduated from the University of Houston in 1967 with a degree in Speech and History. She and her husband, Bruce L. Darlene enjoyed a career in Travel and Finance for International Tours of Sugar Land and American Express Card/Travel. Her hobbies included yoga, shopping, reading, playing solitaire, researching her favorite stocks and traveling. She loved Las Vegas and always had great luck at the tables and slots! One of her favorite places to visit was “Pink Float Beach” in the Bahamas. For years she enjoyed snow skiing in Colorado as well as water skiing on the lakes of Texas. Darlene adored spending time with her two grandsons and family.
She was preceded in death by her father, Gilbert (Mickey) Mikulenka and her mother, Dorothy (Dottie) Mikulenka.
She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Bruce Dye, son Jeff Dye and wife Jennifer and two wonderful grandsons Andrew and Thomas. One brother, David Mikulenka, two sisters Donna Conrad and husband Donald and Dianne Harris and husband Robert along with many nieces and nephews.
Our family is grateful for the outpouring of love and support from our family and friends. Darlene was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, sister, daughter and friend. She will be missed by so many but her memory lives on in those she loved most.

For some years, Darlene was a neighbor who lived on my street. We played bridge together with other neighbors, and Jeff swam on our neighborhood swim team. I offer condolences to her family. She was a cheerful spirit. Kathleen Romine

We met Darlene about 20 years ago when her son Jeff and our daughter Jennifer first met. Since then we have shared our children and our friendship with both Darlene and Bruce. We spent many great family trips to Mexico, Florida and Lake McQueeny and made many great memories . Darlene was a very special lady who loved her family and friends. We will surely miss her friendship.💗💗

My condolences to the family of Darlene, I worked with her for years at John Brown/Kvaerner and came to know her well due to all of my international travel she arranged for me. Always warm and caring, ensuring all details were in place, and showing concern for my well being while I was travelling abroad. I will keep all of you in my prayers. Even managed to cross paths with her and Bruce in Las Vegas years later.

Dear Bruce:
What joy it was being your, Darlene’s and Jeff’s neighbor for 23 years. Your marriage was the hallmark of what a marriage should be: best friends and lovers with mutual respect and kindness to each other. I pray that your decades of happy memories with Darlene will enable you to follow the inevitable bouts of tears with a smile.

April 2006, I met Ms Darlene when I went to interview for a position at American Express. Out of the three team leaders who interviewed me, it was Ms. Darlene who hired me and gave me the opportunity to work at Amex. She was a wonderful leader, inspires everyone to be kind to each other and work in harmony. Thank you for those wonderful years under your leadership, Darlene! You will always be remembered fondly.
